Nylon anchor for PWC PersonalWatercraft.com March 31, 2010 Shares Comments Cooper anchors dig deep to keep you in placeAn Australian company has developed a lightweight nylon anchor that seems like an ideal fit for personal watercraft. Metal anchors can be a nuisance for PWC users. Besides their weight, they can damage your craft if they bang against the hull or inside a storage bin. Weighing just over two pounds, the small nylon Cooper anchor is built specifically for PWC and kayaks. Cooper Anchors has designed its product with a weighted tip, a straight streamline shank and small blade so that it completely disappears below the sea bed – even through wind and tide changes. According to Cooper Anchors, the small area between the shank and the tip, (see diagram) allows the anchor to change direction with less effort, especially during anchor retrieval. As the boat is pulled forward, over and above the anchor, the anchor rotates with the vertical pull and is retrieved with the same effort, or less than was used in its setting. The small blade on the shank of the Cooper anchor eliminates the possibility of the anchor staying on its back. Cooper Anchors says its new balance point causes the anchor to roll onto its tip and set immediately. The small blade also increases holding power and stabilizes the angle of attack as the anchor buries because the small blade and the main blade are at the same angle and support each other.
