Sea-Doo sweeps podium in endurance race PersonalWatercraft.com April 8, 2009 Shares Comments Dana Point to Avalon offshore race sanctioned by APBASea-Doo watercraft mounted racers claimed the top three spots in the 1st Dana Point to Avalon Offshore Race sanctioned by the APBA. Lee Phan of Los Angeles, Calif. riding his Sea-Doo RXT watercraft took the overall win and first in Pro-Am Open with a time of 36:53. Taking the number two spot was past Long Beach 2 Catalina & Back APBA Offshore National Champion Pat Roque, of Huntington Beach, Calif. with a time of 37:12 on his Sea-Doo RXT narrowly bettering third place overall finisher, Paul Pham of Fountain Valley, Calif. aboard a Sea-Doo RXT by only one second. The event was called a tremendous success by event producer Ross Wallach, of RPM Racing Enterprises who developed the new race to feed the growing interest in offshore endurance PWC racing. The event began from Southern California’s Beach side city of Dana Beach and headed 37 miles into the Pacific Ocean to Catalina Island and the city of Avalon located on the South East corner of the island. The event took place in near perfect weather conditions with great visibility in mild to moderate swells to challenge the riders while helping the officials to produce a near flawless race! Next up is the 2009 Long Beach to Catalina & Back APBA PWC Offshore National Championships on July 12, part of the Long Beach Offshore Powerfest weekend.
