wow! what a ride

this sea doo rides so smooth.the suspesion works great in smooth or very rough water that would slow other skis down.very stable when turning fast the hull seems to just hook up, push you down in the seat and go very fast.the brake and reverse are another bonus being mounted on handle bars.its 255 h...p engine can be felt at any speed.overall for me this ski is great i like to play around in the water all day and now i dont have to get sore doing just that.very soon i see every other manufacturer making a suspension for their pwcs.just probable cheaper. 2009 seadoo gtx limited is

the ski is everything they say it is, the first time i used the brake it threw a wall of water over me but i was amazed how fast it slowed, its fast out of the hole and stable. the only thing i don't like is all the compartments they don't seem to latch well, i was always fighting with the glove box... and rear deck , as far as the speed ties i won't be useing them much because they don't retrack to well, i feel it would be just a matter of time before they break. overall its a great ride and am happy i made the purchase.

MY GTX is LIMITED 255 2009 NIGHTMARE

I have just hit 24hrs. on my 2009 GTX iS Limited 255, I

love the ride but, I’ve had several problems. My suspension has a mind of it’s own, the brain for the (is) was replaced and the ECU (main brain) and I’m still having trouble. When I slow down the deck raises up 2 inches before it goes d...own to dock mode (lowers).Now they are saying that maybe normal, before they replaced parts it worked fine. When you slow down the deck should just come down to lower your center of gravity. The gauge cluster also was replaced for the analog part not working. My covers don’t close easy, the deck has chaffed the the gel coat, my dealer re-drilled holes and moved it. I’ve called SeaDoo or should I say we Don’t Do Customers-Do. My dealer has been working very hard to resolve my issues, someone is dropping the ball. After spending over 16,000 dollars I expected more, I can only say the ride is great and you’ll never want to ride without suspension. I think Sea-doo needs to work out some glitches and get better communication with their dealers

Amazing Engineering

Just completed a visit with my uncle who owns 3 Sea-doos, 4 if you included the Sportster Jet Boat. His oldest is a 2004 215(?)and the newest 2009 GTX limited 255.



After years of riding, I initially feared the power of the 255 and it also felt very unstable (top heavy and a bit "tippy"...), when compared to the other models that have a great deal of stability built into the hulls. After about my 10 times riding the 255, I took some extra time to figure it out, as clearly this was a different class of ski. Well, it comes down to engineering trade-offs. First thing the Hull feels a little unstable (if you are use to skis that are not built for speed) because it's a deeper Vee hull and is designed to be controllable at high speeds, rather to be super stable while sitting still (again relative to skis that feel like a floating dock under you). The ride... let's start off with the pure speed factor, I'm not a small guy 5'11 240lbs, and was able to hit 70 mph, on the river, bay and Gulf of Mexico; with flat sea conditions. It's just insane on how fast the ski is. At 70mph you are not making any extreme moves, but the 255 is extremely stable at this high speed, it literally feels like it was locked in on a rail. A bit surprising as at this speed there is not much of the ski in the water. Now, for control and handling. Again, in the beginning I didn't feel I had a lot of control and had problems with balance and all the power. However, I was still trying ride it like one of the older skis. Once I realize there was more to this new GTX 255 I resorted to my 10 years of racing Motocross dirt bikes. This ski is needs a "rider" ... you are not a passive rider that can sit back and relax when pushing this powerful machine. Otherwise one attempt at getting on the power and cutting a sharp turn will either leave you flying bodily through the air or grabbing on for dear life. Just like when riding a dirt bike your weight and body position is key. You need to stay one step ahead of your actions in terms of physics, as you start pushing the envelope you really need to throw your weight around, knowing and anticipating how the action (turn, acceleration, etc ..) is going to effect you and the ski. Again, just like a dirt bike, you aim to become "one" body with the "machine", having as much bodily contact with the ski as possible. Holding the seat tightly with your legs and keeping your feet lock in, either against the outside wall or inside against the ski. Not only does this help you "hold on" it more importantly gives you a good "read" on the center of gravity of the ski, which is really important if you wish to stay on the ski. But not to worry the ski comes with a built in "trainer" mode, as soon as you enter a sharp turn off the center-line of gravity you will be ejected off the ski with enough air time to think about what your did wrong and ready yourself for impact. But Wow ... what a neat machine, as once you figure it out you will be able to slide it through turns, power slide into a hard stop, or rip into a sliding 360 donut. Of course the new items Brake and Suspension are great, great improvement on hand controls, for shifting into reverse and neutral. You'll quickly become spoiled by the suspension, especially on those choppy days, that eventually cause you to slow down, the GTX 255 makes handling those "bumps" much nicer at higher speeds. The only Cons at this point is, as others have written, there are some issues with latches as hinges, both the seat and front storage hood needed to have parts replaced and repaired back at the dealer, after the first few outings. Oh ... the pirce tag is pretty big ... but so far it seems you are getting what you pay for.

Customer Service

If you are considering buying a Seadoo, beware that they essentially have no customer service dept. which you can contact to get warrnaty information or inquire about a warranty issue.



I own a 2009 GTX-is which recently had a failure of the IBR module and it was a problem known in 2009 before the... warranty expired but Seadoo did not advise dealers or owners of the problem.

When I tried to discuss it with the Seadoo customer service department they advised me that they only work with the dealers and not with customers. They would not refer me to any other department or to a different level of management.

I have owned other Seadoo products but this will be my last. French Canadians obviously don't understand what the term Customer Service means. Read Full Review
