What a Blast

I'm fortunate enough to have a friend purchase this unit and a GTX iS 260 Limited pair. I'm still in his good graces and he invites me to ride out on the pacific ocean every now and then.



The units are docked in a slip at a major southern California marina on a jet dock system. The units have... a about 80 hours logged on them now, all in salt water.
1. Acceleration and Speed:
A little lazy out of the hole, but after she gets on plane, please hang on tight. She'll do 20 - 50 MPH in what seems like a couple of seconds. This one tops out at around 67 MPH.
2. Handling:
This is where you have to be very careful with this type of machine, it literally will turn on a proverbial dime under throttle. If you are not careful, you will be hurled off for a considerable distance.
3. Ride:
Outstanding. I leave the iS on automatic, the computer figures out the rest.
4. Economy:
On nice days we'll cruise 30 - 40 miles and burn just over a half tank running between 35 - 50 MPH. Haven't had them out to Catalina yet, but planning to very soon.
5. Cruise:
I like the way the cruise works. Setting is a little difficult if you are running in rough water, but once you get it set, you can firmly grip both handles and enjoy the ride. If you hit some cruiser or freighter chop the cruise system automatically rev limits which slows you down just enough to safely negotiate rider action. Sometimes it's kind of pain to turn the cruise back off. Maybe this is a service issue.
6. Docking:
Love the neutral and reverse capability (braking) Docking at marina locations in between other boats is now incredibly easy. Dead sticking models without reverse can be a little tricky.
7.Quality:
All in all, very good. Only one complaint.
Used some cheap materials for the main seat hinge and support mechanism. The seat cylinder froze within the first six months causing plastic pieces to relinquish their design specification.
